At the bend, the river runs deep and wide.
We wade upstream, through the weeds at the bank.
Ahead of us lie mountains, with steep gullies and sheer cliffs.
Behind us lies the bridge, and farmland on rolling hills.
To our left is a field of corn, to our right a bush-covered slope.
This is the river.
